Biography

Over the course of two decades, Matt de Heus has built a solid track record of success in both the private and public sectors.  This broad experience, developed in both domestic and international marketplaces, spans such functional areas as manufacturing operations, marketing, strategic planning, environmental engineering, technology development, new business start-ups and education.  His efforts have been rewarded in large part by improved employment prospects for many people – those he hired directly, those that were employed due to successful business development projects and those retrained with skills valued in their local workplace.

 

 

 

Prior to leaving industry in 2005, Matt served in a variety of management and executive positions, primarily within the Burmah Castrol Group (UK).  He has enjoyed success as an independent management consultant, advising small to medium sized businesses on strategy, new product development, industrial marketing and M&A integration.  Matt has also operated several small businesses, including Zovida, a firm which developed and marketed wound care products to the large animal veterinary market.  Since 2006 he has served as an instructor with the nationally recognized program in Process Technology at Delta College.

 

 

Mr. de Heus holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an MS in Manufacturing Technology from Eastern Michigan University.  He is married to Jennifer with blended family of five children.  He currently serves on the board of two Michigan non-profits and is a member of groups as varied as the ACLU and the Mid-Michigan Songwriter’s Guild.  Matt has also spent the last six years as a girls basketball coach in local recreational leagues.
